Frequently Asked Questions About Cookies
Will blocking cookies break the Insight Agent website?
Blocking essential cookies will prevent core features from working, including login authentication and plan-based access controls. If you block all cookies, you will not be able to stay logged in or access subscriber features. Blocking only analytics or functional cookies — such as your theme preference — will not affect your ability to use the core platform, though your dark mode setting may reset between sessions.
Does Insight Agent use cookies for advertising or retargeting?
No. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party retargeting pixels. The cookies we set are limited to authentication (keeping you logged in), functional preferences like dark mode, and analytics through Google Analytics for aggregate usage data. We do not share cookie data with advertising networks or use behavioral profiling for ad targeting purposes.
How long do Insight Agent authentication cookies last?
Our authentication cookies (if_user_token, if_username, if_user_mode, if_user_plan) expire after 24 hours as a security measure. This means you will be asked to log in again after a day of inactivity. Your theme preference cookie (if-theme) is persistent and will remain until you clear your browser data or change the setting manually. We chose a 24-hour window for auth cookies to balance convenience with protecting your account against unauthorized access on shared devices.
Are Insight Agent cookies shared with third parties?
Our own first-party cookies (if_user_token, if_username, if_user_mode, if_user_plan, if-theme) are never shared with third parties. Third-party cookies set by Google Analytics are governed by Google's own privacy policy and are used only for aggregate, anonymized traffic analysis. When you connect your Etsy account, Etsy may set its own cookies per their privacy policy. We do not sell or share cookie data with any external partners for commercial purposes.
